Can-Ar Coach Service is a division of Tokmakjian Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Tokmakjian Group of Companies. Can-Ar Coach Service operates over 50 luxury tour coaches of 11, 32, 47, 49 and 55/56 passenger capacity as a charter specialist.
Can-Ar Coach Service and its predecessor, Travelways, have served the group travel market in the Toronto area for over 35 years, and have given birth to two major tour operators in the educational and inbound receptive markets. The late Travelways founder, Larry Needler, was inducted into the Ontario Motor Coach Association “Hall of Fame” for his significant contribution to the industry. Can-Ar Coach Service’s name and livery were adopted in 1983, at the commencement of the tenure of the current owner and president, Cy Tokmakjian.
Can-Ar Coach Service enjoys the confidence of a great number of wholesale tour and receptive operators in the Canadian inbound tourism industry, which account for over 40 % of sales. Tour groups from the Pacific Rim (primarily Japan), German-speaking Europe and the United Kingdom (in order of magnitude) are provided in-and-out-bound airport transfers, local and regional sightseeing and multiple-day touring services. Up to 100 charter movements per day are routinely handled, with as many as four trips operated per coach in a single day. Domestic business is derived from aircrew transfers, convention and meeting planners, education tour operators, school boards, senior citizen’s tour operators and federal, provincial and municipal governments.
For the past 25 years, Can-Ar Coach Service has and continues to operate two daily scheduled bus routes between Haliburton and Toronto via Lindsay, as well as between Kincardine and Toronto via Toronto Pearson International Airport.
In another segment of its transportation business, Can-Ar Coach Service operates a fleet of 22 specialized mobility plus buses, which are owned by a regional municipality.
Can-Ar Coach Services operates out of its modern 65,000 square-foot facility located at 221 Caldari Road in Concord, Ontario, and employs over 170 full- and part-time professionals.
